Job Description
The Center for Dalit Women Nepal (CDWN) is a national non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering Dalit women and marginalized women to claim their rights, develop economically, and live in dignity.CDWN – in partnership with Governance Facility (GF) – aims to respond to the needs expressed by newly-elected Dalit women leaders through training and accompaniment through “Capacity Building of Dalit Political Leaders” project. The duration of the project is seven months with the anticipation that the pilot will provide a foundation for scaling up. In order to begin this work, the CDWN is recruiting dynamic, visionary, self-motivated and passionate candidates to fulfill the following positions.
1. Capacity Development Expert (1)
Duty Station: Kathmandu with frequent travel to field
Contract Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension
Qualification and experience: Master’s degree in social science or relevant discipline with at least 10 years of working experience in development field including capacity building areas.
Key Responsibilities: Lead capacity building interventions related to ‘Capacity Building of Dalit Political Leaders’ project. Provide technical inputs for project implementation, and other activities of the organization. Coordinate with government officials and other stakeholders at National. Provincial, and Local levels.
2. Senior Program Implementation/M&E Officer (1)
Duty Station: Kathmandu with frequent travel to field
Contract Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension
Qualification and experience: Master’s degree in social science or related discipline with at least 5 years of working experience in development field including Project Planning, Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting.
Key Responsibilities: Initiate to plan project activities as per standard formats and procedures of the organization and development partner. Implement project activities at National, Provincial and Local levels in relation to strengthening the capacity of elected Dalit women at local levels. Develop and maintain an effective M&E and reporting system.
3. Media and Communication Officer(1)
Duty Station: Kathmandu Office
Contract Duration: 5 months with possibility of extension Qualification and experience: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related discipline with at least 3 years of working experience in a related field.
Key Responsibilities: Collect review and document of major issues related to Dalit women. Develop and publish monthly bulletins and other communication materials. Take lead in sharing and dissemination of overall program activities with media partners and relevant stakeholders.
4. Senior Consultants for Developing Training Modules (2)
Duty Station: Kathmandu Office
Contract Duration: 20 days each
Qualification and experience: Master’s degree in social sciences or related discipline and a minimum 5 years’ relevant professional work experience in the preparation of curricula and related pedagogical methods tailored to trainees. In addition, applicants will have a demonstrated knowledge of Nepali sociocultural dynamics and diversity.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare and develop outline/contents for the consolidated standard
training modules for building capacity of elected Dalit women leaders in local levels. Conduct orientation training for potential trainers on the finalized training modules.
Other Attributes for all positions
Excellent communication skills, a good understanding of governance and Dalit women issues, willingness to work under stress and long hours in a rural setting with minimal facilities.
