Position: Gender Officer
Level: D I
Duration: Fixed term contract until March 2018
Location: Gorkha (We are accepting applicants to include in our application pool for future vacancies in field locations Dhading, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk and Kathmandu.)
Description
This position will be responsible for providing support to the Nepal Response Team in response operation area in enhancing their capacity to meet the Minimum Standards on Gender for Humanitarian, so that the different needs of men, women, boys, and girls affected by crisis can be addressed. This position will require building the capacity of women within the community to facilitate their participation and leadership role in emergency management. S/he will also require mentoring ,coaching & supporting Oxfam programme teams and partner staff in gender mainstreaming and safe programming. S/he will be responsible to lead in integrating gender into MEAL processes in operation area; setting of specific indicator for process monitoring and follow up, advising team in getting gender specific information through monitoring process. S/he will also be responsible to explore the gender related issues-post earthquake, mainstream in each thematic program and coordinate with district level stakeholders (mainly Women and Children Office) and other organization working in Gender related programs.
Desired Skills and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in gender studies, social science or related degree with 3 years of proven experience on successful capacity-building of partners and Oxfam staffs and skill in collecting critical information.
