The Gurkha Welfare Trust Nepal (GWT-N) invites application from suitably qualified applicants for the following positions:

1. Medical Centre Pharmacists (Suitably qualified Pharmacists for Butwal, Pokhara, Kathmandu, Dharan and Damak).

2. Rural Health Practitioners (Suitably qualified and licenced Nurse/Health Assistants for our Rural Health Centres).

3. Mobile Health Practitioners (Suitably qualified and licenced Nurses and Health Assistants for Rural Health Centres)

4. Residential Home Nurses (Suitably qualified and licensed as a Nurse in Nepal, a Bachelor degree in Nursing is desirable but not mandatory. Positions for Dharan and Pokhara)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Pharmacist: The successful applicant must be qualified and licensed as an Assistant Pharmacist/ Pharmacist in Nepal and should have preferably obtained a Bachelor degree in pharmacy with a minimum of one year of work experience (more than 3 years as an Assistant Pharmacist). The successful candidate should have experience of practising as a hospital or community pharmacist, with excellent patient counselling skills. Have experience of working with International standard of pharmacy best practices and have awareness of the challenges in achieving these in Nepal. Be able to identify and implement the best practices and methods of storage and distribution of medicines. Have experience in interacting with clinicians on a regular basis to maintain evidence based decisions on the correct use of medications and producing relevant formularies. Must be familiar with Nepal DDA policies and guidelines on Good Pharmacy Practice and Medication Management.

Job Responsibilities

  • he successful applicant will be responsible to comprehensively oversee Inventory Management: Overall control of Area Welfare Centre pharmacy (health stores including pharmaceuticals, consumable and medical stores, first aid kits and medical equipment)
  • Dispensing and Patient Counseling
  • Promoting safe, effective and appropriate use of medications and over the counter pharmaceuticals
  • Providing pharmacy technical advice, education and training to health practitioners
  • Performing other tasks as might be required within the scope of the Services

2. Rural Health Practitioners:

The successful applicant must be qualified and licensed as a Nurse/Health Assistant in Nepal (a Bachelor degree in Nursing is desirable but not mandatory) with a minimum of 3 years practical work experience. The successful candidate should have experience of practising as a nurse/ health assistant in an international standard hospital/medical facility in Nepal, must be familiar with standard infection control precautions, be a team player, must be able to function independently but show the ability to identify patient needs above qualification and escalate to the medical management for clinical assistance.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Act as first point of contact for pensioners for acute and chronic disease management in accordance of competency and policy.
  • Maintain highest possible standards of clinical practice
  • Ensure standards of practice and service delivery as laid down by local regulations and the International Standards of Practice are maintained, and that documentation of same is up to date.
  • Ensure that Universal Precautions are followed at all times.
  • Actively participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement program
  • Ensure that all waste is managed in accordance with local Regulations and GWT (N) standards
  • Perform tests and investigations as required such as ECG, Spirometry, POC blood tests, in accordance with the guidelines
  • The successful applicant will be responsible to comprehensively oversee a small Rural medical centre: Providing Health promotion information
  • Performing other tasks as might be required within the scope of the Services

3. Mobile Health Practitioner: The successful applicant must be qualified and licensed as either a Nurse practitioner or a Health Assistant in Nepal (a Bachelor degree in Nursing is desirable but not mandatory) and should have a minimum of 3 years practical work experience.The successful candidate should have experience of practising in a community based medical facility in Nepal, must be familiar with standard infection control precautions, be a team player, must be able to function independently but show the ability to identify patient needs above qualification and escalate to the medical management for clinical assistance. As the role of the Mobile Medical Practitioner is targeted at pensioners residing in the very Remote areas of Nepal the suitable candidate must be physically fit and able to function independently.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure standards of practice and service delivery as laid down by local regulations and the International Standards of Practice are maintained, and that documentation of same is up to date.

4. Residential Home Nurses; The successful applicant must be qualified and licensed as a Nurse in Nepal, a Bachelor degree in Nursing is desirable but not mandatory. Have good commands of both spoken and written English must be computer literate and a Nepali citizen with a minimum of 3 years works experience, preferably with being Senior Staff Nurse or Shift In-charge The successful candidate should have experience of working in a hospital or community setting delivering excellent nursing. Should have experience of working with International standards of nursing best practices and have awareness of the challenges in achieving these in Nepal

Job Responsibilities:

  • The successful applicant will be responsible to comprehensively oversee the smooth running of the care home by working shifts with their colleagues and being the Nurse in Charge of the staff and residents.
  • The post holder will have a key responsibility for the quality of nursing assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation and associated care to ensure that at all times residents receive an excellent standard of care

REMUNERATION We offer a Competitive salary with Provident Fund. One month pay as Dashain Bonus and medical cover as per GWT-N Staff Regulations. The job is offered for 2 years initially and maybe extended to one final year. The interview will be conducted in English.
