Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable professionals for Renewable Energy for Rural Areas (RERA) Programme in Nepal.With in the framework of bilateral Development Cooperation between the Government of Nepal and the Federal Republic of Germany, the ‘Renewable Energy for Rural Areas (RERA)’ Programme is jointly implemented to promote renewable energy in rural areas. The programme is executed by the Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC), Government of Nepal. with technical assistance from Deutsche Gesellschaft fOr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The programme supports the Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC)in Its decentralisation efforts and Its cooperation with local bodlesto strengthen the participatory and demand driven promotion of renewable energy in rural areas. To do so the programme assists in AEPC’s organizational development and transition. It provides human capacity development, supports the establishment of decentralized offices and the strengthening of local service delivery with a special focus on disadvantaged groups and women and provides direct expertise, services and advice to the government of Nepal.
Position: Programme Officer
Duty Station: Kathmandu
Responsibilities
- Support of AEPC in Its organizational development towards decentralisation of its structure and service delivery mechanisms
- Support of AEPC in planning, implementing and monitoring of programmes promoting off-grid renewable energy
- Planning, organising and implementing human capacity development measures for the staff of AEPC
- Monitoring and evaluation of RERA programme activities
- Planning and implementation of trainings on Gender and marginalized groups
- Knowledge management refining and sharing experiences, lessons learned and outcomes of and from the decentralization efforts
- Networking with partners, public and private stakeholders and the energy community for better coordination, leveraging synergies and information exchange
Required qualification and experience
- Master’s Degree in, Engireering,Economiceor otherrelavant field with specialization in organizational development, local govemanceor renewable energy
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in similar positioNntte field of off-grid renewable policies and programs/organizational development/decentralization/focal governance
- Experience in communication with decision makers at government level with extensive network amongst public and private stakeholders in the renewable energy sectorExperience in human capacity building and with financing renewable energy
- Expertise in setting up and implementing monitoring systems,knowledge management, editing, reporting and publication
- Ability to work independently, with a solution oriented attitudeand be able to meet deadlines
- Very good communication of English and Nepali (both written and verbal)
- Good working knowledge of MS Office
Position: Administration Officer
Duty Station: Kathmandu
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for organisation of office, coordination and steering of activities in the area of administration, procurement of materials, goods and services
- Support national and international experts, visitors and consultants with all issues related to administration Provide logistic support for preparation implementation of workshop/training, meetings etc. and assist In planning and documentation
- Support in arrangement of field visits, travel logistics and settlement of travel accounts etc.
- Maintain filing system in accordance with GIZ rules, regulation and data management system
- Act as security focal point and contact person for the GIZ Risk Management Office Nepal
- Oversee vehicle management and maintain record of service & maintenance of office vehicles, coordination of drivers and couriers etc.Coordinate with Country Officer IT unit and support in IT related Issues
Required qualification and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Studies/Business Administration
- At least 4 years of work experience In a similar position
- Work experience in the development cooperation sector will be an added advantage
- A good team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Experience with knowledge management is an asset
- Good communication in English and Nepali (both written and verbal)
- Very good working knowledge of MS Office
