Job Description

The Gurkha Welfare Trust Nepal (GWT-N), British Gurkhas Pokhara invites application from suitably qualified applicants (only Nepali citizens) for the following posts of to be based at its headquarters in Pokhara. Existing GWT-N staff can also apply.

1. Communications Co-ordinator

Position : One

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interview beneficiaries and staff, detail the context of our work and take video footage and photos for use in UK communications. Undertake field visits to projects across Nepal as and when required.
  • Work with staff in Nepal, facilitate efficient internal communications and ensure the Trust’s branding and messaging is adhered to across the organisation.
  • Manage and update the Trust’s digital assets.

Essential Competence/Requirement:

  • Confident and clear communicator with an ability to build relationships internally and externally.
  • An understanding of and empathy with the values and ethos of the Trust and its objects.
  • A professional and approachable manner;
  • Fluent English and Nepali (both spoken and written).
  • Adept at taking photos and filming.
  • Good attention to detail; Good time management and Strong organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge of The Gurkha Welfare Trust, The Brigade of Gurkhas and/or wider Army or service charities.
  • Experience or understanding of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrable understanding of social media and its effectiveness.
  • Experience of working remotely or with teams overseas.

Remuneration:

  • Grade EG-5 (currently NPR 91,592 per month, subject to Nepal Govt. tax) with Provident Fund. One month pay as Dashain Bonus and medical cover as per GWT-N Staff Regulations.
  • The job is offered for 2 years initially and may be extended.

2. Fundraising Information Co-ordinator

Position – One

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with key operational personnel responsible for: Disaster Relief and Prevention, Water, Individual Aid, Medical and Education. Meet with these staff members to produce a full project brief for UK Fundraising on work planned over the next twelve-month period and longer term projects.
  • Collect data from respective departments and provide accurate data on project information and costing.
  • Create an annual planner with details of when each project will start, finish and at what point an interim progress report will be supplied.
  • Visit the project and take film and photographic content so that the visual reports can be supplied to the UK team alongside the information.
  • Ensure ongoing monthly stats are updated and sent to the UK team on a monthly basis, and source other stats for specific fundraising applications as required.

Essential Competence/Requirement:

  • Must have exceptional attention to detail.
  • Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Strong project manager with ability and experience of managing multiple projects to deadlines.
  • Highly organised and capable or organizing others to ensure information is provided that is detailed, accurate and on time.
  • Good listening skills; Good time management and Ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Team player — ability to get on well with colleagues and get the best out of others.
  • Ability to ‘push back’ with colleagues, to ensure information is not delayed or is missing.
  • Confidence to organise colleagues to ensure deadlines are met.

Desired Experience:

  • Qualification in business administration/project management
  • Experience working for an English speaking organisation
  • Interest and basic understanding of charities/fundraising

Remuneration:

  • Grade EG-4 (currently NPR 70,455/- per month, subject to Nepal Govt. tax) with Provident Fund. One month pay as Dashain Bonus and medical cover as per GWT-N Staff Regulations.
  • The job is offered for 1 year initially and may be extended.
