Job Description
Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is providing Technical Assistance (TA) to the Government of Nepal (GoN) through the Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Agricultural Roads (DoLIDAR) under Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) for the implementation of the Local Roads Bridge Programme (LRBP)in 75 districts of Nepal.
AF- ItecoAG, Switzerland (AF-Iteco), on behalf of SDC, provides technical assistance through its TA team. AF- Iteco invites applications from interested and qualified Nepali Nationals for the following positions to be based in the regions.
Regional Bridge Coordinators (RBCs) – 5 positions
Regional Bridge Coordinators should have at least a Bachelors Degree and preferably a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ in construction supervision, including quality control and management of roads and bridges. The RBCs must have capability to supervise, manage and execute the construction of bridges as per the provided designs and drawings. S/he should have experience of supervision of construction of at least 10 motorable bridges of different types such as Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC), Steel, Pre-stressed bridges etc. Demonstrated experience in managing multiple district level teams and coordination with local bodies and local stakeholders. Experience in geo-technical and hydrological investigations for the bridges and interpreting the findings thereof will be an added advantage. S/he should have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Nepali, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Social Safeguard Officers (SSOs) – 5 positions
Social Safeguard Officers should have a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the related field and specific experience in social development issues. S/he should have demonstrated experience dealing with community safeguard, community mobilization, resolving community and social development issues in the rural infrastructures preferably in road/bridge sector projects. S/he should have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Nepali, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Technical Officers (TOs) – 25 positions
Technical Officers should have at least an intermediate/diploma degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the field of rural transport infrastructure, preferably in bridges. The TOs must have capability to supervise the construction of motorable bridges. S/he should have knowledge on Government of Nepal’s policies, administrative systems, and procedures followed by DDCs in project implementation. S/he should have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Nepali, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
