Job Description

Nepal Agricultural Market Development Programme (NAMDP) is a bilateral initiative between the Government of Switzerland and the Government of Nepal. The project is being implemented jointly by Swiss contact (Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation) and Center for Environmental and Agricultural Policy Research, Extension and Development (CEAPRED). NAMDP aims to sustainably improve livelihoods of rural smallholders, especially disadvantaged groups and women-headed households, through their participation in commercial agriculture and ‘interconnected markets’. NAMDP follows Market System Development (MSD) approach (also known as ‘Making Markets Work for the Poor” ‘M4P’approach). NAMDP invites applications from committed and experienced Nepali citizens for the following position:

Position: Sector Manager

Duty station: Kathmandu with frequent field-visits

Reports to: Senior Sector Manager

Purpose: This position, under the general direction of the Senior Sector Manager, will be responsible for the analysis of systemic constraints and opportunities in selected sub-sectors/ cross-sectors, district-dusters, and agriculture market systems, as well as for the design and implementation of interventions in the selected sub-sectors/ cross.sectors.

Required Education and Experience: A minimum of two years’ work experience in the field of market systems development (MSD/M4P) in agriculture, and/or value chain development with a private sector development

focus. Bachelor or Higher degree in relevant field. (degree in Business and/or Economics is preferred; Bachelor degree without relevant job experience will not be short-listed.)
