Job Description
The World Bank Nepal Office in Kathmandu seeks to recruit dynamic professionals for the following position/s for the Social, Urban, Rural and Resilience Global Practice to provide support in meeting the Bank’s expanding and complex social safeguards agenda and promote social sustainability of its investments in Nepal. The position is for 3-year renewable term appointments.
- Senior Social Development Specialist (Job# 162849):
Advanced university degree (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant social science discipline (anthropology, sociology, political economy, social development, etc.) or other related discipline, with a minimum of eight years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of experiences and education in sustainability, social safeguards and/or social development (e.g. voice and participation, gender, community-driven development, citizen engagement) in the context of international development or investment projects.
- Social Development Specialist (Job# 162859):
Advanced university degree (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant social science discipline (anthropology, sociology, political economy, social development, etc.) or other related discipline, with a minimum of five years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of experiences and education in sustainability, social safeguards and/or social development (e.g. voice and participation, gender, community-driven development, citizen engagement) in the context of international development or investment projects.
These are country office positions in Nepal subject to local recruitment under the Nepal compensation plan. The World Bank offers a locally competitive package to all applicants.
